Newsletter - Feb 2008

Imago’s 2008 Training Programme is off to a flying start.

We have a total of over twenty confirmed dates running between now and the end of June.  With such a comprehensive range of courses on offer, we are confident that you will come and train with Imago this year.  There really is something for everyone in Publishing!

Thank you to all those who give us such useful and positive feedback on the courses we run and for your suggestions on new course areas that interest you.  Please do keep the suggestions coming - our training team are keen to continue developing the programme and to deliver the best available industry training.    Contact us at Training@Imago.co.uk

Here is the latest news on our key training areas:

UNDERSTANDING COLOUR -  places on this course are being snapped up as soon as we announce new dates and sadly we have been turning people away.  Our 13 Feb course is full and we have added further dates to keep up with demand.  We are now taking bookings for 30th April and 11th June.

PRODUCT SAFETY - Basic Safety & Safety Workshop - ensuring your products are safe is vitally important and keeping up to speed and understanding the legislation and requirements is not at all easy.  Help is at hand!  Our next two scheduled courses are being run by Linda Crane & Diane Greaves.  Diane has recently joined Imago as an independent safety advisor and will eventually be taking over the running of our safety courses from Linda.

INDESIGN - InDesign CS3 has now been launched and Mark Bracey our trainer is already up to speed and ready to train you in the latest version of the software.  The updated version has a streamlined interface that gives you greater control over your work area and is now co-ordinated across the creative suite (i.e. Photoshop and Illustrator etc).  There are many improvements which all add up to a new great package, for example: you are able to carry out multiple placing of images and text in one action.  There are enhanced transparency effects that include graduated and directional feathers as well as embossing and bevelling of objects. We run different InDesign courses for the different skill groups: Editors, Production and Designers who are either moving over to using InDesign or need refresher training.

CTP - Computer to Plate and Digital workflows are now the norm within the publishing industry, but do you really understand what needs to be on that disk and what happens when you send it off?  Teresa Solomon & Joanna Figg-Latham make a technical subject accessible and interesting.  Imago have three CTP courses for Design and Production staff to learn and keep updated on the changes in our digital working environment.  Our CTP courses show you why you need to understand the software issues and the workflow to prevent costly errors and schedule delays.    Teresa and Joanna’s approachable style will ensure you know what should be on that disk by the end of the day!

BASIC & PROACTIVE PRODUCTION - our production courses are incredibly popular so ensure you book early to secure your place!   Basic Production is a brilliant introduction to the whole production process within publishing, relevant not only for production staff but also for Editorial, Design and Marketing staff who all need to understand what they are trying to produce and the production limitations and logistics!

In addition to scheduled courses we also offer bespoke training in the same subject areas which we create for particular groups of people.  If you need something specific that you do not see here, do please contact us.
